Veterans eat free at McCormick & Schmick’s on November 11, 2007

All veterans receive a free lunch or dinner entrée at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants nationwide on Sunday, November 5th in honor of Veterans Day week. This popular Sunday event enables veteran’s families to dine together. Minneapolis’ McCormick & Schmick’s restaurants are located at 800 Nicollet Mall and 50 South 6th Street.

As in past years, McCormick & Schmick’s will extend this offer to those defined as a veteran by the Veterans Administration, Title 38 US Code 101, which is a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. All veterans must show proper identification.

Traditionally, the McCormick & Schmick’s Veterans Appreciation event is held on the Sunday prior to the formal Veterans Day holiday. Since Veterans Day falls on a Sunday this year, the McCormick & Schmick’s Appreciation event will take place this year on the formal holiday itself.

Air Force ROTC Detachment 410 and Arnold Air Society

The cadets of Air Force ROTC Detachment 410 and Arnold Air Society invite you to join them for the annual POW/MIA Vigil on Monday, 12 November 2007 at 5:00 p.m. in the lower quad of North Campus. AFROTC will present the University with a new flag to raise on the flagpole in the center of the lower quad this year.

In addition, the Cadet Wing invites you to join for a POW/MIA Vigil speaker, Ms. Mary Danielson-Gates; the widow of a Vietnam F-4 pilot who was shot down and MIA for 37 years. She was integral during the largest search and rescue mission ever conducted in hopes of rescuing him. Ms. Danielson-Gates will talk about her experiences as a military spouse holding her family together during her husband’s MIA status and recent recovery. This event takes place in JRC 126 directly after the POW/MIA Vigil Opening Ceremony.

This tradition represents the 59 year union between AFROTC and the University of Saint Thomas, as well as our appreciation and pride we hold for our Veterans, Prisoners of War, Missing in Action, and those currently defending our country’s values. I hope your schedule permits you to join us for our POW/MIA Vigil.
